Clearscape® tebuconazole fungicide available now from SipcamAdvan

(Durham, NC) Clearscape Turf and Ornamental Fungicide containing the active ingredient tebuconazole is the latest addition to the SipcamAdvan product line. Clearscape controls a long list of diseases on golf course turf and nursery and landscape ornamentals.

With the recent approval of tebuconazole for turf and ornamental use, Clearscape gives professionals a new active ingredient for disease management. It offers several key benefits including rapid plant uptake, preventative and curative disease control, low use rate, application flexibility and delayed resistance development. Clearscape is an excellent tank mix and fungicide rotation partner.

A much anticipated DMI fungicide, Clearscape controls disease by inhibiting processes related to the fungal biosynthesis, which in turn disrupts the growth of target pathogens. On golf course turf one gallon of Clearscape applied at the labeled rate of 0.6 oz. per 1000 sq. ft. treats five acres for the control of anthracnose, dollar spot, brown patch (Rhizoctonia blight), pink and gray snow mold, gray leaf spot and other diseases. On ornamentals, Clearscape controls diseases including southern blight, leaf spot, anthracnose, scab and powdery mildew.

“Tebuconazole is a great active ingredient and gives turf and ornamental professionals a new disease control option,” SipcamAdvan Director of Specialty Business George Furrer said. “Introducing Clearscape is consistent with our goal of providing economical disease management solutions. We wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Kip Cullers Breaks Soybean Production Record

Kip Cullers Breaks Soybean Production Record

Yield limiting white mold controlled by Contans.

Durham, NC:  Kip Cullers of Missouri has once again broken the world soybean production record.  His 160.6 bushel/acre yield tops his record by over four bushels per acre.  A key benefit of Kip’s efforts in his competition plot is the knowledge gained for soybean production and the agricultural market.  Kip has always shown a willingness to share experiences with soybean growers both in the United States and globally.  As noted by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon, the leadership Kip exhibits is invaluable to the soybean industry.

At a press conference near his farm in Purdy, Missouri, Kip explains the introduction of Contans® into his soybean production program:  “White mold has been one of the limiting factors keeping us from reaching 200 bushel soybeans.  We used Contans on our farm this year and have not found any incidence of white mold.”  The key to Contans success is the unique mode of action. Similar to how a herbicide attacks the weed seed bank, Contans goes after the source of the disease, reducing the fungus population year after year.  The active ingredient in Contans is fungal spores of Coniothyrium minitans, a parasite that attacks the resting state (sclerotia) of both S. sclerotiorum and S. minor. The fungus C. minitans in Contans attacks sclerotia in the soil before it can infect a susceptible plant. Applied post-harvest in the fall, Contans attacks and destroys the black sclerotial bodies, which are the resting survival structures of Sclerotinia. This breaks the cycle of disease by controlling the disease-causing fungus in treated soil before infection can occur.
